Summer Plum Brandy

 

We cleaned a 35 L Alquitar for
distilling our Plum Mash

There are plenty of ripe plums
on our 2 trees in the garden. After
the jam and jellies are made, friends
taken what they want, we are still left
with bucket loads.
W picked them when they were very ripe
so the sugar content was high.

We mashed the plums until they were
a liquid mash. It was done by hand but you
could use a paint mixer attachment onto
a drill. Charlie put 1gram of wine makers yeast
and 1/2 kg raw suagar per 25 kg of mash. We a 25 K mash bucket with an airlock and 25
